Graveyard Gaza

In its editorial on 11/08/2025, 'Graveyard Gaza,' The Hindu newspaper condemns Israel's decision to expand its war and seize control of Gaza City, calling it a "direct affront to mounting international concerns over the appalling humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave." The editorial argues that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ignored calls for a ceasefire from a wide range of individuals and groups, including former Israeli Prime Ministers, former IDF and intelligence chiefs, leading genocide scholars, and even some of Israel's closest allies, such as the U.K., Canada, and France.

The editorial further argues that Israel's actions, such as the forced starvation of Gaza and the expansion of the offensive, reveal its true intention of taking over the enclave, even at the cost of expelling its over two million residents. The editorial concludes by urging the West, particularly the U.S., to "move beyond verbal criticism and adopt concrete measures to hold Israel accountable for its crimes" and to demand that Mr. Netanyahu "end the war immediately.
